Knight Visiting Professor in Digital Innovation
The Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland is looking for candidates to fill a two-year appointment as the Knight Visiting Professor in Digital Innovation. We seek a professional journalist with a strong reputation for innovation in digital media and one who has clearly helped shape the convergence of news and digital technology.
This position is underwritten by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the successful candidate will be someone who wants to help shape the next era of journalism education. The Knight Visiting Professor will teach two multimedia/digital journalism courses each academic year. The rest of his or her time will be spent working collaboratively with the Merrill College’s academic unit, its professional centers, and its national magazine, American Journalism Review.
We are looking for an innovative colleague who can both lead and contribute as our program grows and adapts to changing technology in journalism. The successful candidate will be a practitioner who has a strong record of important media innovation, and who holds a bachelor’s degree or higher. This person must enjoy working collaboratively, and he or she will have opportunities to complete meaningful scholarship in this crucial field. Previous experience in higher education instruction is considered a plus.
The visiting appointment is limited to two years.
