The Washington Post-Maryland-District of Columbia Teacher of the Year Award Recognizes Outstanding Scholastic Adviser or Educator
The Maryland-District of Columbia Scholastic Press Association invites nominations for a deserving adviser or educator from Maryland or the District of Columbia who has shown dedication to scholastic journalism. Students, colleagues and/or school representatives many nominate an adviser or educator for the award. Advisers and educators may also nominate themselves.

This is a great opportunity for middle and high school students, faculty and representatives to recognize the outstanding commitment of a newspaper, yearbook, magazine and/or Web site adviser. The adviser or educator must have at least three years of experience to be eligible for the award.

Congratulations to Dr. J. D. DiMattio from Ballou High School in Washington, D.C. He is the recipient of the 2006 Washington Post-Maryland-District of Columbia Scholastic Press Association Journalism Teacher of the Year Award.

Anyone interested in nominating an adviser for the 2008 award should contact Gary Clites by email at gclites@verizon.net.
